Understanding Prayer (Part 1)

🔥 PRAYER IS A NECESSITY
In Matthew 6, Jesus teaches that Giving, Prayer, and Fasting are not optional — they are spiritual necessities. Each discipline addresses a different part of who we are:
Fasting – subdues the flesh
Giving – shapes the soul
Prayer – engages the spirit
A healthy spiritual life demands all three.
🙏🏽 WHY DO WE PRAY?
"The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s; but the earth He has given to the children of men." – Psalm 115:16
"...men ought always to pray, and not to faint." – Luke 18:1
Prayer is not just for asking — it is the legal invitation for divine intervention.
God has given dominion of the earth to man, and He honors His Word. This is why no spirit (even God) can legally operate on earth without human partnership.
Prayer is that partnership.
🧎🏾♂️ PRIESTHOOD & PRAYER
Every act that allows the spiritual realm to influence the physical is called priesthood.
Prayer
Worship
Sacrifice
These acts legalize God’s will on earth. As John Wesley put it:
“WITHOUT GOD, MAN CANNOT BUT WITHOUT MAN, GOD WILL NOT”
This tells us something powerful — God’s move on earth depends on man’s cooperation in prayer.
👑 PRAYER ENFORCES GOD'S WILL
"Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." – Matthew 6:9
God’s will already exists in heaven — prayer is how we replicate it on earth.
Just because God said it doesn't mean it will automatically happen. Your obedience in prayer is how prophecy becomes reality.
⚔️ DON'T LEAVE IT TO CHANCE
“Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.”– Acts 12:5
When the Church prays, heaven responds.
But when we don’t, many things are left vulnerable. Prayer is how we secure destinies, preserve lives, and enforce divine outcomes.
